MPS Rome at Mobile Poker Club: $13,500 in Prizes

From September 10 through 24, Mobile Poker Club is hosting MPS Rome, a tournament series inspired by the Roman Empire. Over 15 days, players can compete in 17 tournaments with a combined guarantee of $11,000, collect cards featuring historical figures, and battle for another $2,500 in the Map of Rome meta-game.

The MPS Rome schedule features NL Hold’em, 6+ Hold’em, PLO, and PLO-5 tournaments, as well as Bomb Pot, Mystery Bounty, PKO, Deep Stack, and Hyper events. Players can also take part in a Mixed tournament rotating between NL, 6+, PLO, and PLO-5.

The series includes four Main Events, two of which are played over two days. All tournaments are 6-max except for three 4-max Hyper events. Buy-ins range from $1.25 to $8.

The tournaments are numbered MPS Rome I through MPS Rome XVII according to their position in the schedule. Day 1 and the Final of each two-day Main are treated as a single event and share the same number.

Early registration and unlimited re-entries are available in all tournaments until late registration closes. Tickets can be purchased with cash or obtained in exchange for denarii.

At the heart of the series is Map of Rome, a collection of 30 cards featuring historical figures. It is divided into three themed branches: Military, Politics, and Arts. Each branch contains 10 cards and has its own color of Laurels, which serve as Glory points.

At the beginning of the series, players have access to three starter cards: Romulus & Remus, Cicero, and Horace. To unlock the remaining figures, players must complete challenges in MPS Rome tournaments and accumulate Laurels of the corresponding color.

Each card has its own challenge. This may involve winning with a particular hand, knocking out an opponent, finishing in the money, winning a pot of a specified size, or achieving another objective. All challenges are checked simultaneously at the end of each hand, so one successful hand can advance several cards at once.

Accumulated Laurels are never spent. They unlock new figures while also determining each player’s position on the leaderboards. Within each rarity tier, players can choose which card to unlock next.

The global Triumph leaderboard counts Laurels of all three colors. Once the series ends, the top 50 players will share $2,000.

Each of the three themed branches also has its own leaderboard. The leading player in each branch will receive an honorary title and $50, bringing the total value of these prizes to $150.

Another $350 is awarded through Trajan’s Column. Prizes go to the first players to complete the challenges tied to cards that were locked at the start of the series. Each prize ranges from $5 to $25 depending on the card’s rarity. An additional $50 will go to the first player to unlock all 30 cards.

This brings the total prize pool of the meta-game to $2,500.

During the series, players can earn denarii and exchange them for MPS Rome tickets. One denarius is awarded for every 10 MPP earned in poker or every 20 MPP earned in slots.

Denarii are also awarded for deposits at a rate of one coin for every full $3 deposited. They can only be spent on tickets to series tournaments.
